Our websites primarily make money from advertising. Advertisers like to pay to show their ads to audiences that tend to convert the best and spend the most money. Because of this, a website that you purchase should have an audience that’s made up of mostly high-value countries.
Some of the most valuable countries that you want making up a website’s visitors include North America, Canada, Spain, The United Kingdom, and Australia. There are many other countries that are deemed acceptable, but these are some of the best by far.
If a website for sale doesn’t disclose the audience makeup, and they don’t grant you access to Analytics, then they’re likely hiding low value traffic.
There are a lot of websites for sale that have audiences from other countries that aren’t as valuable, such as India, Colombia, and Mexico. While I usually don’t bother with websites like these personally, largely because I’m not too familiar with the culture and how to best monetize them, they’re definitely not bad websites to buy.
Remember, websites are valued based off of monthly earnings. So, even though a website may have lower RPMs because of these countries, it should be priced accordingly!
The only issue with this is that the value of adding one more visitor with these countries is much lower than adding one more visitor from a high-revenue country.
