Marketplaces are where you’re going to find most, if not all of the absolute best websites to invest in. This is where I operate primarily, and it’s where most other website investors operate as well. But what’s the reason for this?
First of all, it’s important to note what marketplaces are. Website marketplaces are essentially websites where people can list their website directly and connect with buyers through the platform. The website has specific functionality and integrations that make it a relatively seamless process for both the buyer and seller — so it’s naturally the most common method for selling websites.
Out of the many different marketplaces on the internet, Flippa is by far the most common. Just search “website marketplace” and see what comes up first. They’ve put a lot of money into establishing their place at the top, and it really pays off.
At the time of filming this video, there are 6,500 listings live on the website.
Obviously out of those 6,500 listings, not all of them are good investments. In fact, I’d be willing to bet only 100 out of those listings would be worth a second look.
However, with such high volume, it means that good deals are ALWAYS popping up, giving you ample opportunity to analyze them and purchase them.
Another reason why marketplaces are the best place to find “distressed” websites is because a large portion of sellers on the website have no idea what they’re doing, and that’s PERFECT for you.
This is the equivalent of a homeowner deciding to sell their home for themselves. If they’re not savvy, they’ll have no idea how much the home is worth, how to properly list it, and they don’t see what incredible potential it has.
These marketplaces harbor undervalued and un-optimized websites that the owners can’t see the true value of.
Since we’re looking for undervalued websites that can be quickly improved for a massive payout, this is gold to us.
The biggest downside to marketplaces like this, though, is that there is a ton of garbage to dig through to find the gold. Like I said, out of those 6,500 listings, about 6,400 of them are worthless, overvalued, or straight-up scams and misrepresentations. This takes up a lot of time to search through.
If you don’t know what you’re looking for, this process will take infinitely more time, and you’ll be extremely likely to purchase a scam of a website.
However, proper due-diligence will negate most of the risk and make your job way easier.
The other downside to marketplaces is that there’s a lot of people exactly like you on there looking for the best deals. That’s why I’m selling this course for a premium — I need it to outweigh the extra competition it’s going to bring me!
This competition requires you to act quickly, which can be challenging. However, a proper due diligence checklist and a little experience makes this process very fast.
