A minor aspect that I like to consider about sellers is their personality. How are they responding to you? How do they seem as a person? Remember, you’re about to give them thousands of dollars — you want to make sure that they’re a good person.
The personality of a seller typically tells me two things.
First, it helps me determine how reputable they are. It’s not entirely foolproof, but it’s a good indicator.
If a seller has a great, friendly personality and is ready to answer any questions that you have for them, there’s a much better chance that they’re legitimate than if they act cold, unresponsive, and generally disinterested.
A responsive and engaged seller also hints at the fact that they put the same amount of effort into their website, meaning that it’s likely healthier or more legitimate.
Again, this is largely speculation, but it’s a common trend that I see.
Second, it hints at how the actual transaction would go if I purchased the website.
If a seller is responsive before the purchase, there’s a good chance that they’re going to continue being responsive after the purchase, both in the transfer of the website and the hand-over period.
Unresponsive or vague sellers are typically nightmares to deal with when it comes to actually buying their website, making the transfer difficult and the hand-over period extremely unproductive.
